Denyelle and Erika reside in a city deemed to be the worst place for Black women (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-01-09) and they both share lived experience that mirrors that of many other women in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. After hearing so many women struggle through similar issues relating to motherhood, careers, relationships, health, self doubt, and anxiety, Denyelle and Erika decided to take matters into their own hands and host brunches for Black women. They created the Hot Sauce in My Bag Brunch as a safe space that fosters fellowship, vulnerability, and healing. Their goal is to host the brunches free of charge to all participants as a gift to Black Women in their city and are currently planning a fall weekend retreat.
